Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, distinct from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Fighters, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the city, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and advises that it is a hostile place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their position as important members in the powerful family could assist the team reach places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him wherever.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.
What’s Next?
According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Explorers and Planners parties.
Fans can look forward to learning which players will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
